Domaine du Chancelier’s 2020 Bourgogne Côte d’Or ‘En Coulezain’ Vieilles Vignes is a distinguished red Burgundy crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. Sourced from 50-year-old vines in the ‘En Coulezain’ parcel, located on the eastern side of Volnay, the vineyard’s deep clay soils impart suppleness and roundness to the wine. The vines are traditionally managed with low trellising and Guyot simple pruning. Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting and are vinified without sulfur in stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period of approximately 21 days to ensure gentle extraction. The wine matures on its lees for about 12 months in French oak barrels, with 10% to 25% new oak, enhancing its complexity. This Bourgogne Côte d’Or exhibits a ruby hue, with aromas of black fruits and subtle spices. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of fruit and freshness, with fine tannins and a lingering finish. ‘En Coulezain’ exemplifies the elegance and precision characteristic of the Bourgogne Côte d’Or appellation.
