Description
Maison du Chancelier’s 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune ‘Les Saucours’ is a distinguished red Burgundy crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The ‘Les Saucours’ climat, historically planted with willows, is situated on a limestone-rich upper slope along the Rhoin River’s southern bank. This terroir benefits from gentle valley breezes, imparting freshness and balance to the wine. The 47-year-old vines are traditionally managed with low trellising and Guyot simple pruning. Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting and are vinified without sulfur in stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period of approximately 21 days to ensure gentle extraction. The wine matures on its lees for about 12 months in French oak barrels, with 10% to 25% new oak, enhancing its complexity. This Savigny-lès-Beaune exhibits a ruby hue, with aromas of red fruits and subtle spices. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of fruit and freshness, with fine tannins and a lingering finish. ‘Les Saucours’ exemplifies the elegance and precision characteristic of the Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation.
