Description
From the limestone-rich slopes of Corton’s upper reaches, Pierre Girardin’s 2019 Corton-Charlemagne ‘La Croix’ is a white Burgundy of commanding presence and shimmering precision. Crafted by one of Burgundy’s most exciting new-generation vignerons, this Grand Cru balances power with piercing mineral clarity. The 2019 vintage delivers crystalline citrus, white peach, crushed rock, and subtle hazelnut, all framed by vibrant acidity and a touch of reduction that promises long-term evolution. Fermented and aged in 456L demi-muids for a refined oak signature, this is both expansive and tightly coiled. William Kelley highlights Girardin’s “seriousness of intent and deep understanding of terroir,” while Jasper Morris notes the wine’s “tension and fine persistence”. Drink 2025–2038.
