Description
The 2021 Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Aligoté is a vivid and expressive white that showcases Leroux’s dedication to old-vine Aligoté Doré from Bouzeron and Meursault’s Les Belles Roses. He fermented and aged it in seasoned 12-hectolitre ovals and glass Wine Globes—eschewing new oak—to preserve clarity and freshness. Neal Martin describes it as having “a pungent and well-defined bouquet … bright and vivacious,” with grapefruit, a touch of quince and a lightly spiced finish. The bouquet is precise and aromatic, the palate balanced and energetic with fine weight, and the finish carries a refreshing tension. This is a beautiful Aligoté to enjoy early, from 2022 through 2026, but it may slowly gain depth with gentle aging.
