The Carelle sous la Chapelle 2017 reflects the rising talent of Thibault Clerget, who has quickly established himself among Burgundy’s most exciting young vignerons. This wine captures the vintage’s charm with lifted red berry fruit, floral aromatics and gentle spice over a core of refined minerality. Described as “a vivid and forward wine … the nose offers plenty of rather cool fruit – red and dark forest berries – with a nice vivid impression of minerality.” The palate is fine-boned and elegant with silky tannins and a fresh, persistent finish. Just entering its drinking window (2025-2032), this is Volnay at its most graceful and precise.
