Description
From one of Burgundy’s most thoughtful young vignerons, this Clos du Roy captures the tension and clarity of the 2021 vintage in Marsannay. A cooler, more classical year, 2021 favored precision over power, and Pierre-Olivier Garcia leans into that ethos with whole-bunch nuance and restrained extraction. Regarding this Marsannay, Jasper Morris “managed to make a beautiful wine” out of a challenging vintage and that “this Clos du Roy has a really racy lifted floral raspberry with a sense of fresh beauty and a fine fruit, tannin and acid balance. No sense of the 2021 vintage here.”
Expect red cherry, crushed raspberry, rose petal and subtle spice, framed by bright acidity and chalky grip. This is Clos du Roy with real poise – structured yet energetic. Approachable from 2025, it should drink beautifully now through 2033+ as complexity builds in bottle.
