Description
From one of Barolo’s great crus, Vietti’s 2020 Rocche di Castiglione is a beautifully precise, mineral Nebbiolo built around finesse rather than brute force. Monica Larner awarded 96 points, highlighting its ferrous, cherry-cola, redcurrant and chalk-mineral profile, with dried flowers, violet and iris emerging as it opens. Antonio Galloni also scored it 96 points, underlining the consistency of this benchmark bottling from Castiglione Falletto. The 2020 vintage gives the wine generous red fruit and immediate aromatic charm, but Rocche’s limestone tension and chalky tannins keep it classical, lifted and ageworthy. This is a serious cellar Barolo with real grace: approachable with a long decant from 2028, but best enjoyed from 2032 to 2050+.
