Description
Monthélie sits quietly between Meursault and Volnay, sharing their exposures and, increasingly, their quality, without yet sharing their prices. Les Vignes Rondes comes from the Volnay-facing edge of the appellation, near Clos des Chênes, and Paul and Margaux Dujardin work it with a portion of whole bunch fruit and restrained new oak. The result is pure rather than rustic: ripe raspberry and strawberry, real perfume, a peppery lift on the finish. William Kelley has called the domaine’s style “fine and elegant, emphasizing perfume and purity of fruit,” and named it an address to watch.
