Description
A rare sparkler from one of Burgundy’s most revered growers, Emmanuel Rouget. This is a wine that lends serious pedigree to every celebration. Produced from Chardonnay grown around Flagey-Échezeaux and made by the traditional method, it opens with grapefruit, lemon and white flowers, followed by brioche and a cool, saline mineral note. The mousse is creamy yet energetic, balancing generous texture with bright, mouth-watering freshness. Wine writer Federico Latteri considers it far above the appellation’s usual level, observing that tasted blind it could readily suggest good Champagne. Serve well chilled as an elegant aperitif or alongside oysters, scallops, smoked salmon and delicate tempura. This is ready to enjoy now, although careful cellaring should bring greater nuttiness and toast. Drink now and over the following three to five years.
