Description
Maison du Chancelier’s 2022 Pommard ‘La Croix Planet’ Vieilles Vignes is a distinguished red Burgundy crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The ‘La Croix Planet’ climat, named after Pommard’s legendary 12th-century cross, features deep clay soils that impart suppleness and silkiness to the wine. The 50-year-old vines are traditionally managed with dense planting of 10,000 vines per hectare and Guyot simple pruning. Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting and are vinified without sulfur in 500-liter oak barrels, employing gentle extraction methods at moderate temperatures. The wine matures on its lees for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, enhancing its depth and character. This Pommard exhibits a vibrant ruby hue, with aromas of ripe black fruits, chocolate, and pepper. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of fruit and minerality, with fine tannins and a lingering finish. ‘La Croix Planet’ exemplifies the finesse and precision characteristic of the Pommard appellation.
