Maison du Chancelier’s 2022 Saint-Romain ‘Les Bancs’ is a distinguished white Burgundy crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vineyard, nestled beneath a high cliff, benefits from southeast-facing slopes composed of marl and limestone soils, imparting finesse and tension to the wine. The 40-year-old vines are traditionally managed with low trellising and Guyot simple pruning. Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting and are vinified without sulfur in oak barrels. The wine matures on its lees for approximately 12 months in 228L and 350L oak barrels, enhancing its complexity. This Saint-Romain exhibits a fresh profile with mineral and citrus notes on the palate, reflecting its cool-climate terroir. With a limited production of 900 bottles, ‘Les Bancs’ exemplifies the elegance and precision characteristic of the Saint-Romain appellation.
