Egon Müller: King of The Mosel

One of the most beautiful labels in wine - and one of the finest rieslings inside
Hey Winos!

This week is a small parcel (only three cases) of a wine I've been itching to offer out to you.

Not much to update you on, so let's get to it!

In most wine regions, there’s always an argument to be had about who sits at the top.

In Champagne - is it Krug, Cristal, Salon, or Selosse? Bollinger (and its VVF cuvée) would like a word.

In Bordeaux? The First Growths? Pétrus and Le Pin have entered the chat.

Rinse and repeat almost anywhere in the world.

Except the Mosel.

Here, there’s remarkably little debate. Egon Müller stands alone as the benchmark for the region and, for many, for German wine as a whole.

But don’t take it from me. Konstantin Baum recently blind-tasted Germany’s top Kabinetts and described Müller as “absolutely delicious”, “world class”, and “a little bit above all of them”.

With apologies to Konstantin - the caption was more important than his facial expression here
That reputation, combined with meticulous work in the vineyard and tiny production, means these wines are pre-sold every year to a small circle of importers and private clients. When bottles do surface on top restaurant lists, they tend to be eye-wateringly expensive.

Which is why this small parcel has me so fired up.

A few weeks ago, I secured just 18 bottles of Müller Kabinett from a European supplier. Today, I’m offering three cases at the best price in the world.

And it gets more interesting.

This is the 2024 vintage. A year defined by spring frost, relentless mildew pressure, and dramatically reduced yields across the Mosel. According to VomBoden.com, Müller lost nearly 85% of their crop, calling it their most challenging vintage since 1986.

In a region already defined by scarcity, this is extreme.

Put simply - there isn’t much of this juice to go around.

To secure Müller of this quality, from a vintage this rare, at under £100 per bottle in bond, is exceptional.

That’s the offer.

3 cases. That’s it.

I don’t expect to be able to source this again, so if you want in, I’d move quickly.
White-Glove Concierge Delivery and Free In-Bond Transfers

Our concierge is away next weekend, so M-25 deliveries will take place during the week (as it suits you) and into the following. Normal service will resume 24/25 April. As always, if you need it faster, select nationwide delivery at checkout and these orders will be processed normally.

For anything you want to lay down safely in bond, our usual UK warehouse transfer service is available at no cost and there are a few cases piling up for the major warehouses, so they should be in your account without much wait.
