Description
Le Terroir is Adrien Renoir’s vivid expression of Verzy Grand Cru, marrying 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. Fruit from organically farmed vineyards and an modest dosage (0.8g/L) produce a Champagne of striking purity and definition. Aromas of crisp pear, orange zest and white blossom rise from the glass as well as almond and subtle pastry. The palate is finely textured yet incisive, its pinpoint mousse and concentrated fruit energised by bright acidity. Critics highlight the wine’s tension, chalky minerality and long, precise saline finish: hallmarks of Verzy’s cool, north-facing slopes. Serve it now with oysters, shellfish, sashimi or light canapés, allowing a little air for its detail to emerge. Its structure also promises graceful development, bringing still greater savoury depth and complexity with time. Drink now to 2034.
