Description
A quietly elegant expression of Volnay by Benjamin Leroux, the 2017 opens with notes of red cherry, fresh raspberry, rose petal and subtle earth tones. Leroux’s signature restraint grants this mid-village wine a refined clarity and saline undercurrent. Critics note a “fine, detailed Volnay premier cru” style, favouring freshness and elegance. From barrel, Leroux described this vintage as “vibrant, fresh, concentrated and intense,” highlighting its super-impressive finish. On the palate the wine is supple and flowing, with gently structured tannins and lively acidity. Now entering the optimal drinking window, this will be drinking best from 2025 to 2035 and its balance will evolve gracefully over a decade. Serve lightly chilled to 15-16 °C and decant if desired to reveal its bouquet fully.
