Description
The 2019 Cos d’Estournel is a stunning example of why this Saint-Estèphe Second Growth continues to challenge First Growth peers in both pedigree and price-performance. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, it exudes cassis, graphite, exotic spice and violets on the nose, with a palate of remarkable poise and power. William Kelley of The Wine Advocate praised it for its “layered, seamless and complete” character, while Lisa Perrotti-Brown (then writing for Robert Parker) described it as “spectacularly seductive” with “superb tension and energy”.
This is a wine built for the long haul, with drinking beginning from around 2028 and continuing well past 2050. A benchmark modern Cos, showing both opulence and precision.
