Description
Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the ‘Grand Chaliot’ vineyard, located just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The 1.25-hectare parcel, planted in 1987, benefits from its proximity to Nuits-Saint-Georges, imparting a seriousness and mineral depth uncommon in a regional Burgundy. The wine is aged in used barrels, allowing the energetic and spice-tinged flavors to shine through unimpeded. Tasting notes reveal expressive cherry and raspberry fruit aromas with hints of liquorice and fresh flowers, compellingly good. On the palate, it offers a lush and well-measured profile, with good fruit definition alongside hints of spice, leather, and fresh tobacco leaf. The wine’s fine and especially smooth tannins contribute to a lively and clean finish. The wine exemplifies the Lignier’s reputation for concentration, depth, and structure, offering a remarkable expression of Pinot Noir that is both approachable in its youth and capable of developing further complexity with age.
