The 2015 Grand Vin from Kapcsándy Family Winery is a masterclass in Napa Valley precision and restraint. Sourced from the meticulously farmed State Lane Vineyard in Yountville, this is a Cabernet of serious pedigree and poise. While the vintage was compact and challenging due to low yields, it produced fruit of striking intensity. Kapcsándy’s Grand Vin balances richness with a cool-climate edge, offering blackcurrant, graphite, pencil shavings and violets wrapped in ultra-fine tannins.
Antonio Galloni described it as “sublime” and “effortless,” while Wine Spectator noted its “tightly wound core and persistent finish.” This is Left Bank structure meets Napa generosity – a wine of power without excess, built to age.
Drinking now with air, but it will continue to evolve beautifully through 2040.
