Description
Ulysse Collin’s ‘Les Maillons’ Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut NV (Base 2018) is a remarkable Champagne crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the Les Maillons vineyard in the Côte de Sézanne. The 2018 base vintage, complemented by 60% reserve wines from 2017, was aged for 36 months on the lees before being disgorged in 2022 with a dosage of 2.4 grams per liter. This meticulous process results in a full-bodied, fleshy wine with a satiny texture and fine, pillowy mousse. Aromas of sweet mirabelle plum, honeycomb, orange oil, bee pollen, and spices lead to a vinous, enveloping mid-palate and a sapid, penetrating finish. Esteemed by critics, it received a 97-point rating from Wine Advocate, highlighting its finesse and precision. This Champagne exemplifies Olivier Collin’s dedication to terroir-driven, artisanal winemaking.
