Description
The 2014 Benjamin Leroux Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ‘Petit Maupertuis’ is a commanding yet finely-tuned expression of this historic walled vineyard. Drawn from the higher, chalk-rich section known as Petit Maupertuis, it marries Gevrey-like muscle with Vosne-style perfume. The bouquet is layered and inviting—dark cherry, black plum, crushed herbs and a whisper of cedar. On the palate, it’s broad-shouldered but composed, the tannins dense yet polished, the acidity lending lift and precision. Leroux’s hand here is confident and restrained: oak perfectly measured, fruit pure and persistent. Still youthful, it’s entering a wonderful phase where structure and fragrance meet in harmony. Expect a graceful evolution over the next decade. Optimum drinking from 2025 to 2035.
