I Like Big Botts And I Cannot Lie

You Wine Lovers Can't Deny

Sir Mix-a-Lot cleary has great taste
Hi Fellow Wine Lovers!

I asked ChatGPT to write some parody verses to “Baby Got Back” about large formats, but they were truly terrible, so I’ll spare you. Instead, let me spend a minute on why big bottles are genuinely special and why today’s offer is worth your attention.

From a scientific perspective, large formats are simply better for wine. Corks are not fully airtight and allow a tiny amount of oxygen to move into the bottle over time. That oxygen exchange is a major driver of ageing. With big bottles the ratio of oxygen to wine is lower, so the wine evolves more slowly and more gracefully. There is also more thermal mass in the bottle, which means large formats are less affected by fluctuations in temperature if they are not stored under ideal conditions.

If you are hosting a group that would normally call for several bottles, large formats guarantee consistency. Bottle variation is real and it is entirely possible that two standard bottles show differently. Pouring from one large format removes that risk and creates a seamless experience at the table. Why risk it?

And, most importantly, THEY ARE FUN. Nothing gets a room smiling faster than a big bottle. They create instant excitement. They are theatrical to pour. They get photographed (see below). Everyone wants a turn. They make any occasion feel like a celebration.

Bottom line: BIGGER IS BETTER.

With the festive season fast approaching and these all priced best-in-market, there will be no shortage of opportunities to put a large format on the table. So the question is simple: which one are you opening first?
